I don't know about you, but I'm a bit of a control freak.

This week, I'm walking away from work and taking a little break. While it's much needed, and I'm excited to do it, the truth is, it gives me a bit of anxiety.
I don't know about you, but I'm a bit of a control freak. My work is incredibly important to me, and I'm super proud to do it, so I often struggle to leave it behind. As I type this right now, I've spent all day prepping, photographing, scheduling, and working with my team to get things ready so they keep trucking along for my favorite clients while I'm gone. I have an incredible team of gals around me who are entirely and perfectly capable of, and willing to, hold the fort down! They're the best!
So, if I dig a little further, I notice that my anxiety isn't about the work left behind. It's about the unknown of the adventure. It's about being vulnerable to do something outside of my normal routine, about choosing to care for myself and fill my own cup, and it is DEFINITELY about being programmed, as many of us ladies are, that our desires and needs come absolute last.
Hear me when I say this...that's a bunch of garbage. The truth is, when we rest, when we walk away, only then do we find the energy and renewed desire to tackle our lives in a new and energetic way. Only with that rest, does our perspective return, along with our passion for our work and home life.
Walking away doesn't have to mean a huge vacation. Sometimes it can just mean a long drive down a country road with the windows down and some 90's classics blaring out the speakers. Sometimes it means just locking the bathroom door so you can take a shower in peace.
Whatever it looks like to you, I challenge you to walk away today. Even for just a moment. And then, get to planning a bigger rest. One where you really spend some time pouring into yourself. I promise, you'll come back ready to take on the world, and ready to serve your home and heart in a brand new way! I hope your day is full of REST, love and joy.
xoxo,
Steph
